Megan spoke about her tattoos and their meanings.
“I don’t want to be one of those people who has their arms sleeved, or a shirt or vest of tattoos. But it is something that I really enjoy. So until I think I pushed it far enough, I’m going to keep getting them.”
The actress suggested that while she could not foresee ever removing any of her tattoos, she had looked into the possibility. “But at the same time, its so easy to get tattoos removed now. Ive looked into it just out of curiosity,” she stated.

Megan got the Marilyn tattoo when she was 18, and has worn the tattoo as a tribute to the tragic Ms. Monroe. “It warns me not to let myself be treated so badly by the film industry so that it breaks me down.”
“I just feel like there are better things to have inked on your body than someone who suffered so much, so, in getting older, I just decided that is something I wanted to get rid of,” Ms. Fox told reporters.
Ms. Fox thinks the removing her Monroe tattoo, while painful, will be 100% successful. “I think it will come off completely because I have the right skin type to remove ink,” she described. “The more fair skinned you are the easier it is to remove dark ink, and I’m as fair as it gets.”
So, while Megan has not said that she plans to remove any other body art, it looks like we’ve seen the last of the Megan Fox Marilyn Monroe Tattoo.

Megan Fox Back Tattoo
Megan Fox Back Tattoo – Megan Fox has the following words tattooed on her back near her right shoulder: “We will all laugh at gilded butterflies”.
The language is derived from Shakespeare’s King Lear, and is printed in Old English font.
The actual quotation from Act V, Scene III of King Lear reads as follows:
“So we’ll live,
And pray, and sing, and tell old tales, and laugh
At gilded butterflies, and hear poor rogues
Talk of court news; and we’ll talk with them too,
Who loses and who wins; who’s in, who’s out;
And take upon ’s the mystery of things As if we were God’s spies; and we’ll wear out,
In a wall’d prison, packs and sects of great ones,
That ebb and flow by the moon.”
Various interpretation have been offered as to the tattoo’s meaning. Shakespeare’s words are spoken by King Lear as he, having descended into madness, assures his daughter Cordelia that although they will be prisoners, they will laugh at those in the court who are superficial sycophants and flatterers – the “guilded butterflies”.
When Megan was asked what her back tattoo means, she replied “to not get too caught up in Hollywood because people will end up laughing at you.”
That’s the star’s own explanation for the Megan Fox Back Tattoo.
Megan Fox Wrist Tattoo – Megan Fox has a tribal tattoo displaying two waves tattooed on her left wrist. The intertwining pattern resembles the yin and yang symbol, and fits into the spiritual or mystical theme of Megan’s tattoo ensemble.
This particular tattoo on Megan’s wrist is also referred to as Megan’s Tribal Tattoo or Wave Tattoo. Here are photos of the Megan Fox Wrist Tattoo:
Megan Fox Neck Tattoo – Megan has a Chinese symbol of strength tattooed in the center of the back of her neck. Megan’s neck tattoo was her first tattoo, which she kept hidden under her long hair. The tat is consistent with the eclectic, and international theme of her body art palette.
Megan Fox Ankle Tattoo – Megan Fox has a crescent moon and star tattooed on her left inner ankle. The tattoo design is consistent with the mystical theme that characterizes Ms. Fox’s choice of tattoos. The crescent moon is often thought to symbolize a new beginning or making one’s dreams into reality.
The uplifting theme suggested by the crescent moon design is a counter to the less upbeat message of Megan’s rib tattoo, which speaks of a young girl’s heart being broken, or the underlying cynicism of the King Lear “gilded butterflies” quote on Ms. Fox’s back, both of which suggest more somber themes. The disparate themes of the individual tattoos, when viewed in the aggregate, speak to the complexity of Megan Fox’s character and personality.

Megan Fox Brian Tattoo – Megan Fox has the name “Brian” tattooed above her pelvic bone and hip bone. She got the tattoo when she started dating actor Brian Austin Green, who himself has a number of tattoos.
Brian is currently starring in the TV series Wedding Band, and has previously appeared in the TV series Desperate Housewives, Freddie, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Smallville, and Beverly Hills, 90210.
Megan and Brian married in 2010 and recently had a baby boy Noah. Megan wrote about Noah, her first child: “We have been very lucky to have had a peaceful few weeks at home, but I would like to release this myself before others do. I gave birth to our son Noah Shannon Green on September 27th. He is healthy, happy, and perfect. We are humbled to have the opportunity to call ourselves the parents of this beautiful soul and I am forever grateful to God for allowing me to know this kind of boundless, immaculate love. Thanks to those of you who wish to send your positive energy and well wishes. May God bless you and your families abundantly.”

Megan Fox Mickey Rourke Tattoo – Megan Fox has a tattoo on the right side of her rib cage written in stylized Old English script reading: “Those who danced were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
The tattoo paraphrases German philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche who wrote: “And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
Megan says that she go the tattoo in honor of actor Mickey Rourke, with whom she became friends when they co-starred in director Mitch Glazer’s “Passion Play.”
“Mickey is such a beautiful, wonderful human being,” Fox told MTV News. “He’s so genuine and so sweet and so talented. I just love him to death. I actually got a tattoo that is sort of in honor of him. It’s on my ribs.”
The Megan Fox Mickey Rourke Tattoo is sometimes referred to as Megan’s Nietzsche Tattoo.
Megan Fox’s Tattoos – Megan Fox is known as being among the most beautiful and sultry stars in Hollywood. She has appeared in a number of feature films, most recently This Is 40 and I Love College in 2012, Friends with Kids in 2011, Passion Play and Jonah Hex in 2010, Jennifer’s Body in 2009, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009, I Whore and How to Lose Friends & Alienate People in 2008, and Transformer in 2007.
But Megan Fox is best known for her body art. Throughout her career, Megan’s skin has been a palette for tribal, inspirational, and artistry tats.
Most recently, Megan has created some controversy with her decision to remove her iconic Marilyn Monroe tattoo. Primarily because of the prominence of the tattoo on her exposed forearm, Ms. Fox became identified not only by her come-hither looks, but also by the distinctive tattoo.
The artwork’s prominence did create some challenges as Megan has had to cake on makeup to cover the Marilyn art during photo shoots such as her spread for Armani lingerie. Finally, with the onset of motherhood and her self-professed desire to eliminate potential Monroe-inspired negativity from her life, Megan began the long and painful process of removing the tattoo. She has not indicated a desire, however, to remove the other distinctive tattoos that adorn her body.
